Thomas Memorial Park is a 12-acre park located two blocks off McDade Road. The park, built in the 1970’s, consists of a baseball field, playground, restrooms, pavilion, picnic tables and concession area. A youth softball field used for additional little league play is also located in the park.
In the Spring of 2005, the city broke ground on a redevelopment project for Thomas Memorial Park. Elgin received a $195,000 grant from the LCRA, a $50,000 grant from Texas Parks and Wildlife and equivalent matching funds from the City of Elgin, which enabled Thomas Memorial Park to receive additional and updated amenities.
Two additional city lots were purchased near the park with the intent of being used as additional parking and entry points for the park.
