About Library
Mission
Elgin Public Library strives to serve our community through inclusive and accessible services, resources, programs, and information to meet the personal, academic, and recreational needs of the community.

Objectives
- To provide housing for the storage and display of print and non-print
educational materials and to supervise their purchase, processing, and use.
- To anticipate and respond to the changing needs and demographics of the library's community by continuously monitoring and updating existing library materials and services.
- To meet local community needs and growth by expanding the number and type of materials and variety of services offered by the library.
- To respond to the expressed needs of the library community by making available those print, non-print, and services most frequently requested.
- To provide inclusive services, physical space, materials, and programming for local community groups and educational entities.
- To promote community literacy.

Services
The library provides books, audiobooks, videos, music CD’s, large type, downloadable e-books and downloadable audiobooks for all ages. Services include computers, free wi-fi, faxing, scanning, and copies. There is plenty of seating near outlets for you to sit, relax, and plug-in or read a great book from the collection. Board games are available in the Teen area for anyone to use and puzzles can be found by the computer room. Library cards are only required for checking out materials, so you can use any of the other services for free in the library.
Programs
A variety of free programming is available for ALL AGES with Literary and Cultural Events put on by the Friends of the Elgin Library.

- Afternoon Book Club: 2nd Tuesday at 2:00 PM

- Advanced Beginners: Thursdays 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
- Live With Melinda Virtual Facebook Every Wednesday at 9:00 AM

- STEM for SPED (Adult Special Education) every Thursday 10:30 AM to 11:30 PM
- Travel Club the 2nd Friday at 2:00 PM
- T.G.I.F. Movie Day 3rd Friday at 2:00 PM
- Senior Games Day every Wednesday from 1:00 to 4:00 PM and the fourth Friday from 10:30 AM to 4:00 PM
- Senior Men's Conversation Café 1st and 3rd Thursdays at 9:30 AM
- Fiber Arts Circle every Thursday 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
