Elections & Voting

The City Secretary serves as the Chief Election Official for the City and facilitates all City elections along with the County Elections Administrators.

The City of Elgin contracts with Travis County and Bastrop County for election services. Vote at your County voting locations. Please contact the City Secretary if you need help determining which County you are in. The City of Elgin holds a General Election each May for elections to the City Council. 

A special municipal election shall be held in the City of Elgin on November 8, 2022, to submit to the voters of the City a proposed citizen-initiated ordinance regarding the elimination of low-level marijuana offenses. The ballot shall be prepared to permit voting "For This Ordinance" or "Against The Ordinance" on the Proposition:

Proposition A: Shall an initiative petition be approved to eliminate enforcement of low-level marijuana offenses in the City of Elgin?

Early Voting is from October 24th to November 4th. Election Day voting is on Tuesday, November 8th, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
