Adopt a Spot

The adopt-a-spot program is sponsored by the City of Elgin to beautify our community.  The program offers two opportunities for you and your neighbors to play an ongoing role in maintaining an area that needs a little extra attention for beautification – Adopt A Spot Litter Control and Adopt a Spot Beautification.

Adopt a Spot Litter Control

Families, groups or businesses may adopt locations and provide regular litter pick up in that area.  Groups should plan to patrol their spot at least six times per year or on a more regular basis.  The City of Elgin will provide trash bags if needed.  All groups or individuals should exercise caution when collecting litter in public right of ways and be aware of traffic, snakes, sharp objects, etc. Protective clothing should be utilized.  Sign up here!

Adopt A Spot Beautification

The adopting volunteers may plant plants and decorate their spot in order to beautify Elgin. The spot will have to be maintained on a regular basis. Adopting volunteers will perform routine maintenance such as weeding, litter removal and landscape plantings. Currently adopted spots and available spots are listed below. Sign up here!

Available spots

Any spot on public property can be considered for adoption. Available spots are listed on the Adoption forms or you can choose a spot. Please call 512-229-3227 for information and any questions you may have regarding the Adopt-a-Spot programs.
