Sip, Shop and Stroll with Parks and Rec

Join Elgin Parks and Recreation every 2nd Thursday of the Month at the Elgin Depot Museum for lawn games and fun at Sip, Shop and Stroll.

Games available will vary month to month, so be sure to stop by and have some fun!

The Bloodmobile Bus will be at the Elgin Recreation Center, 361 N. HWY 95 from 12:00PM - 6:00PM on Thursday, October 13th.

Self Defense Class

Basic Self-Defense Class

3rd Saturday of the Month  |  8AM - 10AM  |  Elgin Recreation Center Studio

On Saturday, October 13th, Trainer Lu will lead a 2-hour self-defense class from 8AM - 10AM. This class is available for all ages and covers basic self-defense topics, both verbal de-escalation and physical extrication. This 2-hour class is just $12 per person!

Elgin Parks and Recreation is hosting is annual Pumpkin Carving Festival! Join us for free lawn games, pumpkin painting, $5 pumpkin carving, and Halloween music.

Downtown Elgin and Veteran's Memorial Park

Decorate and celebrate Halloween! Elgin Parks & Recreation will host games and hand out candy in Veterans’ Memorial Park from 4PM till dusk and Downtown businesses will hand out candy from 6PM – 8PM. 

Want to set up a table, tent or booth? Email parks@elgintexas.gov and we’ll get you scare up a space for you!

Dia De Los Muertos

Downtown Elgin and Veteran's Memorial Park 

Celebrate Dia De Los Muertos with the City of Elgin! Elgin Parks and Recreation will be hosting Skate Night, games & activities, crafts and sugar skulls will be at the library, and family altars will be at the Clever Tiger! Our community altar will be at the Meadery.

Join the Elgin Parks & Recreation Department at Elgin Memorial Park by the Elgin Recreation Center to plant trees, learn about native flora and fauna, experiment with nature crafts and more! We will have activities, tree plantings and educational materials to help us learn about the importance of trees!

Elgin's TREE Initiative

Fall 2022

Join the Elgin Parks & Recreation Department in “greening” the City of Elgin by planting 150 trees in Elgin for the "Tree Replanting Elgin Experiment" or T.R.E.E. Initiative! We encourage citizens, organizations and businesses to commit to planting one or more trees in their space this November to help grow the green in Elgin for the next 150 years!
