Elgin Parks & Recreation is looking for qualified aerobics instructors in various fields to become regular or substitute contract instructors for short term and long term contracts.

The Elgin Rec Center is looking for regular class instructors & substitutes for the following:

 - Pilates or Yoga

 - Interval Fitness

 - Zumba or Dance

Self Defense Class

Basic Self-Defense Class

3rd Saturday of the Month | 8AM - 10AM | Elgin Recreation Center Studio

On Saturday, August 20th, Trainer Lu will lead a 2-hour self-defense class from 8AM - 10AM. This class is available for all ages and covers basic self-defense topics, both verbal de-escalation and physical extrication. This 2-hour class is just $12 per person!

Can't make it this month? Lu will teach Basic Self Defense classes every 3rd Saturday of the month in August, September and October.

High Intensity Fitness with Jessica Ortiz

Mondays & Wednesdays 5:15PM - 6:00PM

Feel Stronger and leaner with this fast- paced, instructor led class for all level of athletes every Monday and Wednesday. Exercises vary by class for a whole body workout. You'll pick up the pace during these calorie-burning circuit workouts made up of conditioning, agility and some equipment based movements targeting Butt & Legs, Upper Body & Core- a Full body Burn!

This class is about renewing and restoring our energy. Life can be so busy sometimes -- work, school, kids and everything else in between. Come take some time to slow down, be present and get a good stretch in. We will tune inward to discover what our bodies truly need at this moment. All levels of experience are welcome including those who have never practiced before. Come explore yoga and how it can help you bring back alignment in your body, mind and soul.

Let Your Yoga Dance is a funky, fun, dance-like-no-one-is-watching experience for all ability levels, moving through the chakras from the root (foot) and to crown. It is truly a head-to-toe immersion in movement and goodness. Come dance with us where JOY and FUN meet the DEEP and SACRED! No previous experience with yoga or dance is necessary and ALL ARE WELCOME. Dress comfortably and ready to stretch, relax, dance and move.

Tai Chi for Balancing Mind and Body is taught by "Boaz" a member of the Elgin Recreation Center originally from Hong Kong. This class is designed for seniors or those with limited balance and mobility looking to strengthen both their bodies and minds.

Tai Chi as Martial Arts is taught by "Boaz", a member of the Elgin Recreation Center originally from Hong Kong. This class is designed for all ages interested in the fitness, power and meditation behind Tai Chi as a martial art.

Wildcat Walkers - Senior Walking Club

Monday - Friday from 8:00AM - 10:00AM

Seniors aged 60+ are invited to come to the Elgin Recreation Center for FREE Monday - Friday from 8:00AM-10:00AM to walk laps in the Gym.

Wildcat Walkers is a fun way to socialize with other seniors while walking in a climate controlled gym, providing a safe space for fitness. The Elgin Recreation Center rewards walking milestones, so for your first 100 miles walked, you receive a shirt, for 250 miles you'll receive a pedometer and for 500 miles you'll receive a stainless steel water bottle.

Pickleball

Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays 10:00AM - 12:00PM

Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday the Elgin Recreation Center will set up our portable Pickleball set in the Basketball Gym.

Patrons will be permitted to use the Pickleball Court in 30min intervals if others are waiting to use it. Equipment is available for use at the front desk.

Pickleball is FREE for Elgin Recreation Center Members or $5/Day for Non-Members.
