Hogeye Stroll to Kick-Off 2023 Hogeye Festival WeekendTHURSDAY, OCTOBER 26, 2023, 5-8 P.M. We kick off the Hogeye Festival weekend with the Hogeye Stroll Thursday, October 26, from 5 to 9 with the Hogalicious Dessert Contest, the Pearls Before Swine Art Show, store specials and refreshments. The Pearls Before Swine Art Show features artists from Central Texas in all mediums. The opening gala is Thursday evening and attendees share their votes to select The Hogeye Pearl or People’s Choice winner for the show. The show will be at The Clever Tiger, 114 Depot Street, through Saturday October 28. The Hogalicious Dessert Contest will be at Firewild, located at 201 North Main Street with categories in pies and cakes for youth, adults, and commercial bakers – this is an evening of creativity displayed through sugar, eggs, butter and milk. You’ll be amazed at the beauty of the entries and to go boxes with a sampling of desserts will be available for a donation. Downtown businesses will be open late with refreshments, store specials, tastings, live music and more. Enjoy an evening of fun, look for the Sowpremes and kick off Hogeye Festival weekend in style!

FRIDAY NIGHT FREE STREET DANCE with KENNY ORTS AND NO CHANCE BANDFriday, October 27 from 8 p.m. - Midnight Kenny Orts and No Chance Band will play from 8 pm - Midnight on Depot Street. Vendors at the dance will include Smash Daddies Burgers, Pecos Pete's Natural Tea and Sodas, Kettle Corn, the VFW Post 6115 with a variety of beer, soda and water, and MSG Goodz with light-ups for the kids. You can dance the night away with Kenny who started playing when he was 13 with the Westernaires. Bring a chair and plan to spend the evening in beautiful downtown Elgin!

FREE FESTIVAL SHUTTLEFREE Festival Shuttle 10am – 6pm Saturday, Oct. 28 every fifteen minutes from Elgin Recreation Center to 2nd Street at Avenue C. Please use shuttle or park outside the traffic control area of the festival. The Main Street Board and the City of Elgin produce the Hogeye Festival with the support of local businesses and Hogunteers. Proceeds benefit the downtown revitalization program and fund projects such as promotional events like Sip Shop & Stroll, Public art, like the mural at 116 Depot Street, advertising throughout the year, downtown 78621, entrepreneurial support classes, sidewalk improvements, and more. 200 VENDORS at HOGEYE 2023!The Hogeye Festival is sponsored by the Elgin Main Street Board, an organization supporting downtown revitalization, the City of Elgin, and is underwritten by area businesses. Proceeds from the festival go toward downtown improvement projects ranging from new sidewalks to beautification. The free festival Saturday, October 28 features live music and entertainment on two stages, handmade arts and crafts, children’s activities, a children’s costume pet parade, a carnival, Road Hog Car Show, BBQ Pork Cook-Off, Vintage Farm Equipment display, Cow Patty Bingo, the Pearls Before Swine Art Show, and great festive food! Free Hogeye Street Dance with Kenny Orts and No Chance is Friday October 27. Elgin is a Texas Main Street City and has been recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation as a National Main Street Community since 1999. Over the past 35 years more than $23 million has been reinvested in Elgin’s downtown district.

SATURDAY 1ST STREET STAGE LINE-UPA Hogeye Welcome, DJ ReeseBoi starting and the SowPremes Hogeye Welcome on the Veterans Stage. At 3 p.m. listen for the Car Show Winners Announcement. and end the day with the Gordon Swenson BBQ Cook-off Awards presentation at 5:00 p.m. On the 1st Street Stage The Monty Thomas Family Band will start off the show at 10:00 a.m. followed by Brooke Eden at 11:15 a.m. At 12:30 p.m., Chubby Knuckle Choir will perform followed by Ben Zuniga at 2:00 p.m. and then The Sowpremes at 2:45 p.m. Kane Alvarado at 3:15 p.m. and the Allen Lee Band will be our final performance on the 1st Street Stage at 4:45 p.m.
