  2. WildCat Walkers - Free Walking Program for 60+ at the Elgin Recreation Center

    Seniors aged 60+ are invited to come to the Elgin Recreation Center for FREE Monday - Friday from 8:00AM-10:00AM to walk laps in the Gym. Wildcat Walkers is a fun way to socialize with other seniors while walking in a climate controlled gym, providing a safe space for fitness. The Elgin Recreation Center rewards walking milestones, so for your first 100 miles walked, you receive a shirt, for 250 miles you'll receive a pedometer and for 500 miles you'll receive a stainless steel water bottle.

  3. Mind, Body & Spirit Yoga Class with Sunnie at the Elgin Recreation Center

    This class combines Reiki, Ayurveda and a mix of yoga and gentle stretching techniques and will adapt and evolve with patron feedback. Reiki is a holistic way to connect an individual's life forces within, that is warm and nurturing and gives a person the ability to connect to their inner life forces. Ayurveda, the lesser known sister science of yoga, is based on the belief that health can be achieved on a mind-body balance for life time wellness. Ayurveda and Yoga come from the same philosophy but Ayurveda focuses on the goal of living correctly or "Dharma", health and wellbeing, while Yoga focuses on the goal of enlightenment or "moksha" plus spiritual enlightenment.

  4. Portable Pickleball (Intermediate) at the Elgin Recreation Center

    Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday the Elgin Recreation Center will set up our portable Pickleball set on half-court in the Basketball Gym from 10:00AM - 12:00PM. Patrons will be permitted to use the Pickleball Court in 30min intervals if others are waiting to use it. Equipment is available for use at the front desk. Pickleball is FREE for Elgin Recreation Center Members or $5/Day for Non-Members.

  5. Yoga & Mindfulness for Little Ones with Nina at the Elgin Recreation Center

    This wonderful 45 minute toddler yoga class emphasizing movement and yoga poses based on age appropriate stories and themes. We will be teaching breath work and a little stillness at the end of the session with the goal of teaching our littles calming techniques and body awareness. Ages 3-8 years old are invited to participate. Parents must stay on the premises during the class.

    Feel Stronger and leaner with this fast- paced, instructor led class for all level of athletes on select Mondays and Wednesdays. Exercises vary by class for a whole body workout. You'll pick up the pace during these calorie-burning circuit workouts made up of conditioning, agility and some equipment based movements targeting Butt & Legs, Upper Body & Core- a Full body Burn! Introducing NEW instructor, Lauren P.! Lauren has been teaching exercise class for 9 years now and loves to creatively challenge her participants in new ways. Lauren has a Bachelor's and Master's Degree is Exercise Physiology, so she is sure to give you a well rounded and effective workout. Lauren has worked with a wide variety of individuals in hospitals, senior centers, rec centers, and gym settings. In her free time, she enjoys going on long walks with her dog and trying new restaurants with her Husband.

  9. Strut & Glow with Zaftigg at the Elgin Recreation Center

    Y'all ready to dance like you mean it? Each month Zaftigg teaches a fun and provocative routine that will be taught start-to-finish each class. Classes include warm ups, run through of choreography, and end with students being split into groups to perform for each other before a cool down. Sometimes smooth and slinky, sometimes fast and raucous, this inclusive class is for anyone interested in building and celebrating confidence! All bodies, genders, and experience levels are welcome. This class is recommended for students 16 years and up. To prevent injuries and ensure proper warm-up, no one more than 5 minutes late will be admitted to class. Equipment: bring your H20 and dress in clothes you can easily move in. Yoga mats can be provided. Knee pads are recommended as some routines may take it to the floor.
